Abstract
290,988. Hesse, E. May 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Regulating. - In windmills with vanes angularly adjusted by cam means when a radial displacement of the vanes, against a controlling force, arises from the centrifugal action on the vanes, the controlling force is constant and acts upon links located axially of the vanes without variation in the transmission ratio. As shown in the Figure, the vanes 4 slide on sleeves 3 fixed to the windmill hub and have pins 6 engaging helical slots 5 therein to effect the angular adjustment; the control force, which may be magnetic, spring, or gravity, acts upon a rack 17 in the windmill hub and through gearing 16, 14, 11 upon forked racks 10 attached to links 8 pivotally fixed to the vanes 4.
