Abstract
285,572. Parsons, Sir C. A., and Anderson, E. H. B. Nov. 18. 1926. Motor power plant.-In a turbine comprising cruising impulse and reaction blading a, b, and main impulse and reaction blading c, d, a by-pass D fitted with a valve E is provided. This bye-pass is opened at intermediate powers, the main regulating valve C being closed and the cruising regulating valve opened. Steam then passes through the blading a, bye-pass D, and blading d. The bye-pass may also be opened at full power when the valve C is opened and the valve B is closed, so that the low-pressure steam may circulate freely through the cruising blades a, b. At cruising powers the valve C and bye-pass D are closed, and the valve B is opened, steam flowing through the -blading a, b and bye-passing the blading c, by way of disc apertures f or other means, to reach the blading d.
