Abstract

463,532. Projectile fuzes. JUNGHANS, H. Sept. 28, 1936, No. 26216. [Class 9 (i)] A clockwork time fuze of a projectile is driven by a pair of diametrically opposed centrifugallyacting weights formed as driving racks, each of which drives a transmission wheel which is mounted on the pivot pin of the opposite weight. In the construction shown, the weights b, are mounted on bushes h carried by bolts g which serve also to hold together the cover-plates of the mechanism. Each weight is in the form of a toothed segment the teeth of which mesh with pinions d, which are mounted on bushes i carried by the bushes h. The pinions are firmly connected to transmission wheels e which are in the form of toothed segments and which mesh with a pinion f on the central shaft or spindle a. A wheel p on the shaft a has inner teeth meshing with a pinion l of the fuze mechanism. The segments e are also constructed and arranged to produce a centrifugal force which augments that produced by the weights b.
