[Class 114] A screw propeller wherein the pitch of the blades is automatically varied under centrifugal and torque forces by reason of the root being mounted in helical inclines on the hub is further provided with interposed levers which modifies the control due to the centrifugal force to provide a variable torque tending to move the air screw to the position of maximum pitch. The screw propeller blade roots are connected by links 3 to a sliding member 4 and abutting against it is a plate 18 that in turn is acted upon by rollers 17 forming part of a linkage pivoted at 14 and having outer centrifugal weights 16. The pivotal support is a plate 20 which is under axial spring restraint 22, 23. In the minimum pitch position the rollers 17 bear upon a curved portion 18<c> of the disc 18, and in the maximum pitch position they bear on the flat part 18<b>. The minimum pitch is adjustable by means of abutments 30 and the maximum pitch by the setting of the end 31 of the casing 9. The initial tension of the springs 22 and 23 can be modified by positioning the end nut 12. The springs bear against a plate 12b forming a race for balls 12<c>.
