Capsules and like closures. - A reseal closure cap for bottles, jars, &c., having a flange 2, Fig. 1, constructed with curls 3 adapted to engage under a ledge or shoulder about the mouth of the container is strengthened, to resist distortion when the cap is removed, by corrugating the flange or the upper part of the closure or both. The corrugations may comprise a vertical milling 4 on the flange or horizontal corrugations thereon or a rib at the top of the flange. As shown in Fig. 10 the top 1 of the cap is stepped. In another form, the curls 3, Fig. 7, do not stand out from the cap and are formed intermediate the flange ; a jointed sealing strip 30 engages a separate locking shoulder 5<b> to lock the cap on the bottle mouth. The closure may be composite, a depression 1<a>, Fig. 9, in the top 1 of the cap engaging either a domed disc on the bottle mouth or a well stopper 1<c> thereon. To facilitate removal of the closure, a crossed wire loop 26, Fig. 10, is associated with one of the curls, or, if the closure is composite, a loop of string is secured to the inner disc. The disc may be formed of pasteboard and tagger tin or tagger tin alone, a tab being provided at the edge of it below one of the curls 3. Where a packing ring is employed, the removal tab may be formed on it. Alternatively, such a tab may be cut out of the top of the closure. The closure may comprise an annulus instead of a closed cap or quadrants may be cut out of the top thereof to expose portions of a paper &c. disc within it. The caps are made from a sheet of metal to which a sheet of absorbent paper has been adhesively secured. Specifications 10419/14, 142,384, 159,684, 169,337, 205,691, and 265,265 are referred to.
