Abstract

410,775. Stoppers for jars. VACSEAL CONTAINERS, Ltd., CANTOPHER, W. J., OGILVIE, J. M., and CRONSHAW, H. B., Westminster House, Great George Street, London. Nov. 14, 1932, No. 32135. [Class 125 (iii).] A cap for a jar &c. has a pair of resilient packings 7, 8 and is free to move axially of the jar &c. during vacuumizing so that the cap can be drawn down on to the packings. The packing 8 has a tab 10 by which it can be removed to break the vacuum, but when it is desired to re-seal the jar, a slight turn brings interrupted threads 3 into co-operation with recesses 5 to compress the packing 7 on the mouth of the jar. The packings 7, 8 lie in parallel planes, and a flange 6 is provided on the lower edge of the cap for co-operation with the packing 8. A disc 11 of waxed paper may be inserted in the cap.
