Abstract

Regulating. - Angular adjustment of the cam shaft a for varying the valve timing is obtained by employing timing-gears e, f with helicoidal teeth and by moving the shaft axially. This axial movement may be effected by a centrifugal governor or by a hand lever n acting by means of a rod m and piston i upon an abutment g arranged at the end of the shaft. Separate cam shafts may be provided for the inlet and exhaust valves.
