Valves; valve-gear.-A piston valve working in the end of the cylinder is reciprccated by linkage gear arranged so that, when the explosion occurs, the pressure acting on the valve is transmitted to a fixed member and not to the valve-actuating shaft. The valve a shown is connected by a rod i to a slide g, which is connected to a crank-pin d<1> on the half-time shaft d and slides over a block h pivoted on a fixed spindle f. When the explosion occurs, the centre line of the rod i is in line with the fixed member f. A spark plug j is fitted in the valve a. The valve is provided with ports a<0> controlling inlet ports b<0> and exhaust ports b<00>.
