Abstract
278,244. Jackson, W. G. Feb. 24, 1927. Door holders; stops. - Hinged doors, particularly the doors of ships' cabins and of lavatories, are secured in an open or nearly closed position by a staple or eye 16 that is adapted to engage a hook 13 pivotally mounted on the top of a case 3 containing a spring 8 arranged behind a buffer 7. Preferably, the eye member 16 is secured to the door. When the door is swung into the open position, the inclined part 18 of the eye engages the front part of the hook and lifts it against the action of the spring 14 so that the hook and eye engage automatically, the door at the same time pressing against the spring buffer and compressing the spring 8 so that the hook and eye are firmly engaged.
