Abstract
<PICT:0680278/III/1> In an apparatus for continuously adding dispersions to flowing liquids and homogenizing the mixtures formed e.g. in the artificial silk industry, the liquid is introduced under pressure into an inlet 6 and the materials with which it is to be mixed are introduced through a nozzle 7, mixing taking place in a casing 1 by the action of rotating blades 8 carried by a shaft 4, the mixture so formed passing between a fixed perforated plate 3 and a rotatable perforated disc 5 also on the shaft 4, whereby it is subjected to a grinding action. The perforations in the plate and disc are arranged alternately in concentric circles so that the holes in the two never coincide. The distance between the plate and disc may be adjustable. The mixed material is finally conveyed to a mixing tube 2 by stripping blades 9. Blades or vanes 10 mounted on the shaft 4 in the tube 2 press the material in a direction opposite to its direction of flow, whereby a still more intensive mixture is effected.
