Cooling-towers.-In cooling. towers having a motordriven fan a in the chimney part b<2> of the tower, the fan is appreciably smaller than the total passage for air so that the blast of air created by the fan induces a flow of air by an ejector-like action in the annular passage d between the fan and the chimney wall. The fan blades are enclosed by a shallow ring a<1>. Several such fans may be arranged in a tower of non-circular section.
