Abstract

474,235. Ventilators. MARSHALL, J. April 27, 1936, No. 11868. [Class 137] A ventilator, particularly for use in ceilings, comprises an inlet 2 and spaced flared members 3 between which are air diffusing passages 6, 7 through which the air passes at a relatively low velocity, a baffle 4 supporting an air directing device 10 through which an air stream of relatively high velocity is discharged. This device may be of the kind described in Specification 228,440, [Class 137], the outlet 9 being mounted in a bearing 11 having a flange rotatable in a bearing ring formed by the baffle 4, a masking extension 12 being formed on the bearing 11. An annular disc 17 pivoted at 18 and operated by a handle 19, may cut off the air supply to the diffusing passages. In a modification, three air directing devices may be provided, and a circular flap valve for varying the amount of air passing through the ventilator as a whole.
