Abstract

451,385. Chimney and ventilating- shaft tops. VATERLAUS, H., Wiedlisbach, Berne, Switzerland. Sept. 23, 1935, No. 26294. [Class 25] A cowl for chimney or ventilating - shafts comprises a central uptake 1 having an annular nozzle formed around its upper end, a double cone 5 located above it and an open hood 6, 7 surrounding the cone and the upper end of the uptake. The lower end of the cone projects into the uptake so as to form an annular outlet. The annular nozzle is formed by a curved circular band 3 surrounding the flared upper end of the uptake and a downwardly flared member 2 carried by the uptake. Air enters the lower end of the nozzle and produces a suction effect as shown by the arrows.
