Abstract
In a heat exchanger 1 for use with a tunnel oven used for baking, waste gases from a gas flue heating system and vapours produced in the baking process pass over heat exchange tubes 23, 23a which contain fluid in communication with a hot water/steam tank 12 to which heat is thus transferred. The waste gases and vapour then pass over preheating heat exchange tubes 20, 21, 22 before being exhausted. The vapours condense out on the tubes 20, 21, 22 and are drained off. The tubes 20, 21, 22 are connected in an upstream directed to, respectively, a cold water tank 9, warm water tank 10, warmer water tank 11 and the hot water tank 12, adjacent tanks being connected together by the tubes and through gaps 18 between upper and lower plates 14, 15 forming the tanks. Fresh, cold process water is fed to the cold tank 9 and is passed through the tanks to be gradually heated. <IMAGE>
