Abstract

2947. Welin, H. A. J. Feb. 6. Clamps, eccentric. - A lacing-fastening for shoes, stays, &c. comprises two rollers 5 carried by bows 6, which are pivoted to pieces 7 fixed in a casing 2 through which the ends of the lace pass. The rollers are normally pressed together by springs 9 so as to grip the lace between them, and are adapted to be moved over the upper surfaces 8 of the pieces 7. In use, when the ends of the lace are pulled apart, the rollers are raised, and the fastener as a whole runs downwards along the lacing; the rollers spring together and hold the lace when the ends are released. Rods 14, engaging the bows 6 and attached to an external ring 13, are provided to lift the rollers out of engagement with the lace. The rollers 5 and the lower parts of the fixed surface 8 may be milled. In a modification, Fig. 3, the free ends of the levers 6 carrying the rollers are acted on by a single spring 16, and a releasing-lever 17 is provided.
