Vices.-A vice of the kind in which the two arms are pivoted together, one having a screw projecting through an opening in the other and provided with a hand nut for forcing the jaws together, has one or both of the jaws formed with a flat top or surface to serve as an anvil. Fig. 2 shows a hand vice having the legs a, b hinged together as usual and operated by a screw f and nut g, the screw being preferably bent somewhat as shown. Both jaws d, e are formed with a flat upper surface. In the modification shown in plan in Fig. 3, one jaw c is formed enlarged with a flat top, the other jaw d having the usual curved surface.
