Abstract

1537133 Die casting machines BUEHLER AG Gebr 10 Feb 1976 [11 Feb 1975] 05160/76 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions B4-B5] A die carrying platen 4 of a die casting machine is displaceable along columns 20 towards and away from a fixed die carrying platen 2 by means, e.g. a toggle mechanism 7, carried by a fixed plate 6, and at least one of the columns 20 is fixed to the platen 2 and plate 6 by means which are releasable so that the column 20 can be withdrawn from the platen 2 for die changing by alternately retracting and advancing the toggle 7, as the column is respectively clamped by means 48 to the platen 4 and simultaneously unclamped from the plate 6 by means 47, and then unclamped from the platen 4 and clamped to the plate 6 by the means 48, 47. The means 48, 47, comprises clamping sleeves actuated by hydraulic fluid, and the operation may be effected automatically. The column 20 is fixed to the plate 6 by a unitary nut 21 locked in position by bolts 24 which are each releasable by a double acting hydraulic piston 28. The column 20 is fixed to the platen 2 by a nut 31 which is split axially into halves 31, 32 for radial displacement to effect the fixing and release, by double acting hydraulic pistons 28<SP>1</SP>, or by a hand operated crank.
