Abstract

1481503 Drop-head extension for formwork prop GUEST KEEN & NETTLEFOLDS (AUST) Ltd 9 Dec 1975 [16 Dec 1974] 50450/75 Heading E1S A drop-head for a formwork prop comprises:-(a) a hollow column 7 having a lower end fixed to a formwork prop 11 and its upper end 14 adapted to support a concrete body, (b) a support head 16 slidable along the column, (c) an opening 25 in the column, the opening being of cruciform shape with the arms of the opening defining shoulders 26 and the shank extending longitudinally of the column, (d) a wedge 22 extending through the column, supported by shoulders 26 in the column for lateral movement to adjust the support head and (e) slots 33 in the wedge which upon registration with the shoulders permit the wedge and support head to fall to the bottom of the column. An insert 8 may be provided to support the drop-head on a prop and to support the wedge in its lowered position.
