Abstract

1288698 Hooks M O SMITH 28 June 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 30191/71 Heading E2A A hanger construction comprises an elongated channel member 11 having spaced leg sections 11b projecting from a central section 11a and provided with flanges 11c forming therebetween an elongated opening 11d, means, such as an adhesive 14, for securing the central section to a supporting surface, and a hanger element 12 carried by the member 11 and adjustable longitudinally thereof to selected positions. The element 12 includes a head 12a disposed between the sections 11b and slidably engaging the inner surface of the sections and the inner surface of the flanges 11c, a shank portion extending through the opening lid and a resilient member 15, e.g. a rubber washer, movable into frictional engagement with the flanges 11c to effect retention of the element 12 in a selected longitudinal adjustment with respect to the member 11. As shown, the head 12a has a rectangular configuration, but, alternatively, may be circular the shank then having a rectangular cross-section within the opening 11a. In a modification, the member 115 is integral with the shank 112b and is flexed to a concave flange-engaging position as shown in Figure 9.
