Abstract

1421062 Pile fabrics BOND WORTH LTD 5 Jan 1973 676/73 Heading D1K An adhesive coated base fabric 12 is fed from a roll 11 through an accumulator 13, 14 to a heater 39 which heats the underside of the fabric 12 so that the adhesive 33 is rendered progressively tacky from underneath, through a tuft insertion station 17 where grippers and a presser press tufts 34 of selected colour into the adhesive 33 and then past a further heater 19 which is at a higher temperature than the first heater 39 to cause the adhesive to flow and envelope the base of the tufts and secure them to the backing. The adhesive and base fabric may be supplied separately and the second heating may be applied after the fabric has left the machine.
