Abstract

1,031,333. Pile fabrics. ETABLISSEMENT GIROUD, FRERES LES SUCCESSEURS DE HUGUES GIROUD & CIE. June 30, 1964 [July 9, 1963], No. 26915/64. Heading D1K. A pile fabric is made by severing fibres from a batt 10 of longitudinally disposed fibres by a knife 4 which pushes the fibres over a plate 1 on to a conveyer 13 which is travelling faster than the speed at which it receives the fibres so that the fibres are spaced apart, humidifying the fibres over a steam heated bath 14 which causes them to expand and close the interstices, optionally drying the fibres at 16 and then applying a backing. In place of discrete fibres a pleated batt may be used.
