Abstract

1,150,451. Pile fabrics. SINGER-COBBLE Ltd. 20 May, 1966 [12 April, 1965; 10 June, 1965], Nos. 15356/65 and 24556/65. Heading D1K. Adhesive is applied to the back of a base fabric prior to tufting. A base fabric 11 from a roll 12 and a paper backed adhesive 22 from a roll 21 are fed to a heated roll 14 where the adhesive adheres to the base 11 and the paper backing is wound off; the coated base fabric then passes through a tufting machine 16, heaters 17 which cause the adhesive to bond the tufts to the base, a further adhesive layer 26 and a further backing 30 are applied and the laminate is then fed over a heated roll 19 for consolidation before being wound onto a roll 20.
