1360072 Ventilating and heating or cooling buildings; defrosting SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM) 28 June 1971 [7 July 1970] 30230/71 Headings F4V and F4H A ventilating and heating or cooling system for a building comprises a room air exhaust duct 9 and a fresh air intake duct 11, a heat pump circuit having a compressor 1 and first and second heat exchangers 3, 7 in the ducts 11, 9 respectively, the first heat exchanger 3 being capable of serving as a condenser or evaporator and the second heat exchanger 7 being capable of serving as an evaporator or condenser respectively, and to prevent icing of the second heat exchanger 7 when serving as the evaporator, a device for raising the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the condenser 3 in the form of an electrical heating element 13 or a heat source having gas or liquid fuel burners; or a valve controlled duct for by-passing fresh air past the condenser 3; or a duct for mixing fresh and room air upstream of the condenser 3; or a valve controlled duct for re-cycling heated air from the downstream to the upstream side of the condenser 3.
