Abstract
1,048,372. Air conditioning; refrigerating; heating buildings. L. ROMANELLI. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 8, 1963], No. 31183/64. Headings F4H, F4U and F4V. In an air conditioning unit a blower 3 draws air through the evaporator 1 of a refrigeration system having a compressor 4 and condenser 5 and. discharges it through a heat-exchanger 2, the unit being connected to the supply and return water pipes 6 and,7 of a central heating system in such manner that water may be passed through the .condenser 5 and the heatexchanger 2 or through the heat-exchanger only. Thus when the heat source of the central heating system is operative the unit may be used to heat air and when the source is inoperative the condenser may simply be cooled or beat from the condenser may be passed to the heatexchanger so that. air passing through the unit is cooled,; dehumidified and reheated. The central heating system, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), supplies conventional radiators as well as one or more of the above-described units. The system may be provided with a thermostatically-operated discharge valve 10, Fig. 3 (not shown), to maintain a constant water temperature, top up cold water being supplied from a well via ,a line 8. Alternatively a by pass including a cooler 15, Fig. 4 (not shown), may be controlled by a thermostatic. valve 13.
