Annealing.-Wires, rods, or other articles of chromium, nickel, cobalt or their alloys are immersed in fused alkali cyanide in order to anneal the metal to facilitate drawing or working. A wire of a nickel-chromium alloy may be treated in sodium or potassium cyanide maintained at 750-850‹ C.
