Abstract

Non-ferrous metals or alloys in the form of particles or coatings on particles, of a size less than 300 microns or in the form of sintered or unsintered compacts formed therefrom, or sintered and hot or cold worked products formed therefrom and having a thickness less than 0.635 cm. are desulphurized by heating at a temperature below their melting point but preferably above 540 DEG C. in a stream of hydrogen containing less than 0.15% by volume of hydrogen sulphide. The hydrogen may be diluted, e.g. in the form of cracked ammonia. The treatment of silver, copper, cobalt, nickel, chromium and vanadium is particularly referred
