Abstract

1,258,467. Hinge for folding tables. HOWE FOLDING FURNITURE Inc. 20 Aug., 1969 [20 Aug., 1968], No. 41617/69. Heading E2F. [Also in Division A4] A folding leg 20 is floatingly mounted under a table top 10 by a pin 26 on a bracket 28 fixed to the top 10 received in a slot 30 in a plate 24 attached to leg 20. A dead-centre tension spring 46 is connected between a lug 48 on plate 24 and the short arm of a J-pin 40, the long arm of which is rotatable in bracket 28. A bar 38 is welded at its ends to the pins 40 of respective legs 20 of a pair. When the pair of legs are unfolded, plates 24 rotate so that hooks 36 thereon engage around bar 38 to lock the legs unfolded. Further locking is obtained by pivoting bar 38 and pins 40 about the pins mountings by a manual lever 39 attached to bar 38 so as to move bar 38 further inwardly along hook surface 36a.
