Abstract

680,974. Bed settees. MADSEN, H. W. Feb. 1, 1951 [April 27, 1950], No. 2533/51. Class 52(ii) A bed settee convertible from settee to bed by raising and lowering the seat comprises at each side a fixture consisting of a plate member 1 attached to the support, a plate member 2 attached to the back and a plate member 3 attached to the seat, the members 2, 3 being pivoted together at 16 and the member 2 being also connected by a pair of arms 4, 5 with the member 1. In addition a releasable connecting bar 6 having notches A, B and a masking pawl 11 are also provided. Raising of the seat plate member 3 rotates the members 2, 3 as a whole until the back plate member 2 becomes horizontal whereupon further movement of the plate member 3 releases the pin 7 from notch A and the member 3 may then be lowered until it is also horizontal and in alignment with the back plate member in which position pin 7 enters notch B to lock the plate members in position. The plate members 2, 3 are attached to a folding mattress.
