Abstract

1,238,032. Powder separator. RANK XEROX Ltd. 6 Aug., 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 37505/68. Heading B2H. [Also in Division G2] Excess toner is removed from an electrophotographic developer powder comprising toner particles and carrier granules by applying it to the top of a vibrating chute 38 operated by an electromagnetic motor so that excess toner rises to the top of the chute and falls into developer sump 16 and a correctly balanced developer is cascaded from the bottom of the chute onto the xerographic drum to be developed. The separation technique is also applicable to developer apparatus comprising a magnetic brush or fluidized bed of powder developer.
