Abstract

1363334 Developing electrostatic latent images PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Sept 1972 [ 29 Sept 1971] 44407/72 Heading G2H Electrostatic latent images on a carrier which may be a paper strip 1 are developed by a developer powder impelled upwards by a paddle wheel 45 rotating in a trough 11 with a vertical splitter 53. Preferably the paddle wheel is made up of strips 51, with a width which does not exceed one sixth of the paddle wheel diameter. The trough contains a developer comprising iron carrier grains and toner particles which adhere to the grains. Magnets 63 hold the developer against the paper strip then as the paper moves away from the magnets to beyond magnetic screen 65, the carrier grains and unused toner particles drop back into the trough.
