Abstract

1,224,443. Gas burners. JOH. VAILLANT K.G. 9 April, 1969 [10 July, 1968], No. 18234/69. Heading F4T. A gas burner for instantaneous water heaters is formed from two side panels retaining an insert 10 in which transverse slits 18 are provided, the upper edges 15 of the side panels being bent inwardly over the insert to form longitudinal passages 14, longitudinal gaps between the bent edges and the insert providing gas outlets, and orifices 17 in the insert between the slits forming gas inlets. Pilot flames 20, 20<SP>1</SP> burn along the gaps to ignite and maintain the main flames 19, 19<SP>1</SP>. The bent edges may be indented (16) adjacent each transverse slit 18 to provide an unobstructed path for secondary air to each main flame 19, 19<SP>1</SP>.
