Ambulances; carriages. - Relates to seating-arrangements for motorvehicles of the kind in which the back of the front seat is formed of two independently pivoted portions b, c, Figs. 2 and 3, one or both of which can be folded backwards to bridge the gap between the front and rear seats and form a couch for conveying one or more persons in a. lying position, e.g. in connexion with ambulance work. If only the left-hand portion c is folded down, the portion b forms the back of the driver's seat, and a space for an attendant is left in the rear seat: if both portions band c are folded down, the whole body space of the vehicle can be utilized as a couch. According to the invention, any gaps between the various cushions m, m<1>, m<2> may be filled by small portable cushions, or the cushion m<2> of the rear seat may be pushed forwards and the gap so left at the back of the cushion filled by a swinging cushion n normally accommodated in a recess n<1> at the rear of the seat. In order to support the portion b when the left-hand portion c is folded down, an L- shaped rod e swinging in plates f attached to the wooden portion a of the seat is provided with a pin engaging a holder g' and screw bolt h on the portion b. Hand-rails are disposed on the rear of the portions b, c and form a support for these portions in the folded-down position as shown in Fig. 4. Additional supports c<2> for holding the portions b, c of the front seat in the vertical positions are arranged at the junctions of the seat with the sides of the vehicle body, and between the portions b, c.
