Abstract

590,030. Vehicle seats. MORRIS, H. April 10, 1945, No. 8808. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A seating arrangement for seating a double row of people at opposite sides of a central gangway in buses, railway carriages, aeroplanes &c. comprises a seat A nearest the gangway and facing the direction of travel and a seat B adjoining it which is slightly in advance of the seat A and faces toward the gangway at an angle of approximately 15 degrees to 45 degrees. The seats are mounted on tubes D which may be supported from the side C of the vehicle and frame members E, F formed with upwardly extending members G, H, to which one or more tubular frame members J are attached to support back rests K, which may be interconnected at L and the inclination of the back of the seat B may be less than that of the seat A. This arrangement allows a single seat to be placed at the rear end of the bus arranged longitudinally or facing toward the centre of the gangway.
