Abstract

The seats in the passenger compartment of an automobile are arranged in two rows, such that the front passenger seat and the rear passenger seat, which is usually divided into two parts, are all fitted with backs (3; 6 & 7), which are able to be tilted towards the front of the vehicle. The rear face of the front seat back (3) is fitted with a load platform (8). In the tilted position this platform (8) forms a continuous platform with the first part of the backs (6 & 7) of the rear seats. The load platform formed by the rear seat backs is carried by an extension (61), which transmits the loads back to the floor pan of the vehicle. USE/ADVANTAGE - It produces a comfortable seating arrangement, with the option of increased convenience for load carrying.
