Abstract
1,134,458. Cotton feeder and opener. CONTINENTAL MOSS GORDIN Inc. 20 April, 1967, No. 18210/67. Heading D1N. Air escaping through a lower air lock A from a blow box BB containing air at superatmospheric pressure is channelled through ducts 30 which extend from breaker means 25 to the space above cotton contained in the bin which has been fed thereto from a separator S. The separator includes a rotary drum 12 under suction action from a blower 13. The provision of two air locks A in tandem reduce the leakage of air upwards into the bin. The air is preferably heated and humidified before being blown into box BB. Switches S1 and S2 are provided for controlling the separator S and the blower 13 for keeping the cotton within the bin between desired levels. The warm pressurized air delivers the cotton through conduit C to a gin, cleaning device, drying machine or other treatment equipment.
