Abstract

1,076,626. Door fastenings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Oct. 29, 1965 [Dec. 3, 1964], No. 49187/64. Heading E2A. Fastening means for a door comprises a bolt 5 pivotally mounted on and projecting from a housing 1 for locking engagement with a keeper 14 the bolt being supported by a slide member 9 in the housing for sliding movement relative to the bolt, the slide being movable by manually-applied pressure against spring means 10 into a position wherein the bolt is free to pivot to permit it to engage the keeper when the door is closed, the spring means being operative upon release of the manual pressure to move the slide to a position where it pivots and supports the bolt in locking engagement with the keeper. As shown, the slide 9 includes a ramp portion 9b, which, when the slide is pushed inwardly of the housing against the spring 10 by a push button 11 allows the bolt 5 to pivot downwardly under gravity to permit insertion or withdrawal of the bolt into or from the keeper 14. The housing and keeper are snap-engageable into the parts a and b to be fastened together.
