Abstract

1330696 Door fastenings YOSOUJI TSUNIZUMI 17 Dec 1970 59848/70 Heading E2A An emergency door fastening comprises an actuator element 3 for a fastening and unfastening mechanism and which is provided centrally of a knob 1 so as to project from a front face of the knob when the mechanism is fastened, the projecting end portion of the element being normally covered with a cover 10 which is breakable by pressing or striking . it. As shown, the element 3 has a large diameter part 32 slidable in a hole 22 in a casing 20 and against the action of a spring 35. A bolt 26 is loaded by a spring 31, which when the cover 10 is broken and the element 3 is pushed inwardly, engages the smaller diameter part 33 of the element so that the door is unfastened. A finger piece attached to the bolt enables the latter to engage in a hole 37 in a block 30 in order to fasten the door. A small lamp 8 may be housed in the knob so that the location of the knob may be ascertained, and actuation of the element 3 may operate contacts connected to a buzzer. In modifications, the element 3 is, upon release by breaking the cover 10, (a) projected outwardly and (b) rotated either manually or by a spring.
