Abstract

1,045,713. Automatic temperature control. ELECTROAKTIEBOLAGET MICATRONE. June 13, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No.23516/63. Heading G3R. [Also in Division F4] An electric motor linked to a rotatable damper in an exhaust outlet pipe of a boiler furnace, Fig. 1 (not shown), is automatically controlled in response to the furnace combustion chamber suction to maintain the latter at a predetermined value during normal furnace operation. The suction is transmitted to a chamber 60, Fig. 4, bounded by a diaphragm 58 which moves an arm 72 so that one of two opposed contacts 73, 74 engages one of two fixed contacts 76, 78 so that through the transistorized amplifying circuit shown and either relay R4 or R5 the electric motor is energized to either partially close or open the damper through contacts M1,M3 or M2, M3 respectively. When starting the furnace, the circuit of Fig. 3 (not shown) is operative. A thermostat linked across contacts F1 F2 energizes a relay R1 which energizes the motor to open the damper through contacts M2, M3. A cam operated switch (not shown) connected across contacts M4, M5 and attached to the motor spindle is closed when the damper reaches its fully open position thus energizing a relay R2 and a starting relay (not shown) which is connected over contacts F3, F4, F5 and which ignites an oil burner of the furnace. As soon as the burner starts, a relay R3 is closed and causes the control circuit of Fi. 4 (indicated in dot-dash line 56 of Fig. 3) to become operative.
