Abstract

480,006. Automatic control systems. RECOMATIC SOC. ANON. Sept. 6, 1937, No. 24273. Convention date, Sept. 8, 1936. [Class 38 (iv)] Temperature.-In a furnace draughtcontrol means for maintaining substantially constant temperature of flue gases in a chimney 1 comprises a damper 5 for admitting external air to reduce the draught and a motor driven ventilator 10 for increasing the draught and a pyrostat 6 in the flue gas stream for adjusting the damper when the temperature is too high and for closing motor circuit when the temperature is too low. The pyrostat is mechanically linked with the damper 5, and has a mercury switch 8 on its spindle connected in the circuit of the motor 9. A thermostat 18 responsive to the temperature of the water or space being heated may be connected in parallel with the switch 8 to give an overriding control. In a modification the fan of the ventilator 10 may be mounted directly in the chimney and driven from the motor through bevel gearing.
