Abstract
910,886. Controlling gas burners. ZIMMERMANN & JANSEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 20, 1958 [Nov. 20, 1957], No. 37438/58. Class 75 (1). A control apparatus for a hot blast stove comprises a gas regulating member GRBV and a gas safety valve GSBV in the gas supply pipe GM of the burner and a switch SBVPS which closes when the pressure in the air pipe AM supplying the burner drops below a predetermined value to de-energize the motor ELDRO of the gas safety valve GSBV so that the valve closes, the arrangement being such that the gas regulating valve GRBV must be first closed and then opened before the motor ELDRO can be re-energized to open the gas safety valve GSBV. In normal operation the contactor ELDRO energizing the motor ELDRO is closed by an electromagnet having terminals 1, 11 included in a circuit from a mains line R back to a mains line O through a switch SBVCS closed when the gas regulating member GSBV is open, a switch WTC closed when the temperature of the combustion chamber is above the ignition temperature of the gas/air mixture and contacts 3, 13 of an auxiliary relay SBVAR. If the air pressure in the air pipe AM drops the switch SBVPS closes its contacts to energize the auxiliary relay SBVAR which therefore opens its contacts 3, 13 to de-energize the contactor ELDRO and stop the motor ELDRO, and closes contacts 2, 12 to keep the relay SBVAR energized. The gas regulating member GRBV is then closed manually or by a motor to open the switch SBVCS to de-energize auxiliary relay SBVAR to re-close contacts 3, 13 thereof. When the gas regulating member GRBV is again opened the switch SBVCS closes and the motor ELDRO operates to open the safety valve GSVB. The system also includes a timing relay SBVTR which opens its contacts 2, 12 after a predetermined time to de-energize the motor ELDRO. If, however, an air regulating member ARBV in the air pipe opens within the predetermined time a switch SBVIS closes and shunts the contacts 2, 12 of the timing relay SBVTR, making the latter ineffective to stop the motor ELDRO.
