Abstract
Ce dispositif comprend essentiellement un élément catalytiseur 6 enfermé dans une coquille 7, laquelle est protégée par une enveloppe extérieure 8. Pour améliorer l'uniformité de la répartition du flux gazeux dans tous les passages axiaux de l'élément catalyseur 6, les deux tuyaux d'échappement 2, 3 amont débouchent obliquement dans la coquille 7 et font un angle aigu avec la face amont de l'élément catalyseur, leurs axes se coupant à l'intérieur de la chambre d'entrée de la coquille 7 en amont de cette face amont. La chambre d'entrée de la coquille 7 présente dans ce but une forme divergente qui favorise la diffusion du flux gazeux. Le tuyau d'échappement aval 4 est fixé à la caisse 40 du véhicule par une patte élastique 38.
