Abstract

PURPOSE: To purify noxious gases contained in exhaust gas positively, by drawing a sufficient amount of the secondary air into the exhaust pipe by a combined effect of exhaust-gas pulsation in one branched exhaust pipe and suction in the other caused by the flow of exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: Branched exhaust pipes 6, 7 are connected to main exhaust pipe 10 in parallel or almost parallel with each other. Here, the axis of main exhaust pipe 10 is located in the middle of the axes of pipes 6 and 7, with all of these axes being extended in parallel or almost parallel with each other, and a portion of the section of pipes 6, 7 is overlapped with the section of main exhaust pipe 10. With such as arrangement, a sufficient amount of secondary air can be drawn into the exhaust pipe by a combined effect of exhaust-gas pulsation in exhaust pipe 6 to which a seconary-air inlet port 12 is connected and suction in the other pipe 7 that is caused by the flow of exhaust gas.
