Abstract

A sailing vessel has a pivoted mast and a pivoted keel. The mast step and rigging are fitted to a ring mounted internally with rollers. The mast and rigging are maintained rigidly so that there is no deformation of the structure with movement of the hull. The lower part of the ring is connected to the keel which may be fixed or in the form of a retractable centre plate in a casing. The keel stabilises the vessel. The hull shape may be broader without impairing the sailing properties of the rig and multi hull designs having better living accommodation may be combined with monohull design sailing qualities.
