In a ships' hull having freely rotatable rollers 1, 2 on its entire surface below the water line, deflectable braking flaps 3, independently operable on the port and starboard sides are provided on the bottom of the hull in addition to the rollers. The rollers may be in the form of hollow bodies to render the ship practically unsinkable.
