Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von selbstklebenden Transferpapieren, die durch das Verfahren hergestellten selbstklebenden Transferpapiere und Transferdruckverfahren.
- Transferdruck bezeichnet das Bedrucken unterschiedlicher Materialien, wie etwa Textilien, mithilfe von Transferpapieren. Transferpapiere werden mit Pigmenten beschichtet, die dann mit einer Thermotransferpresse durch Sublimation auf die bedruckbaren Materialien übertragen werden.

WO 00/06392 -
WO 2008/006434 offenbart ein Transferpapier, welches eine Beschichtung mit einem halbsynthetischen Polymer aufweist, das thermoplastische Eigenschaften besitzt. Als Beispiele solcher Thermoplaste werden Ethylcellulose, thermoplastische Stärke, Methylhydroxypropylcellulose oder Hydroxypropylcellulose genannt. Eine Beschichtung mit Polyacrylaten oder Carboxymethylcellulose wird als nachteilig bezeichnet. -
WO 2008/065395 offenbart eine Rücktransfer-Zwischenschicht zum Aufnehmen eines Bildes, das auf einen Gegenstand durch thermischen Rücktransfer aufgebracht werden soll. Die Schicht umfasst ein Substrat und eine bildaufnehmende Schicht, auf die mittels farbstoffhaltiger Tinte ein Bild aufgedruckt werden kann. Die Beschichtung umfasst dabei eine flüssigkeitsabsorbierende Schicht und eine darüber liegende Schicht, umfassend einen funktionalisierten Polyvinylalkohol und/oder ein ionisches Polymer. -
EP 09 004 614.5 - Zum Bedrucken von Textilien auf Basis von Polyester oder Polyamid wurde der Einsatz selbstklebender Transferpapiere vorgeschlagen, die bei den zur Bedruckung herrschenden Temperaturen an den zu bedruckenden Materialien haften. Bisherige Versuche mit solchen selbstklebenden Transferpapieren waren jedoch aufgrund mangelnder Hafteigenschaften und/oder geringer Haltbarkeit wenig erfolgreich.
- Überraschenderweise wurde festgestellt, dass bei einer Mehrfachbeschichtung der Transferpapiere auf deren zu bedruckender Vorderseite mit unterschiedlichen wässrigen Flüssigkeiten, die oben geschilderten Nachteile zumindest weitgehend vermieden werden können.
- Ein erster Aspekt der Erfindung betrifft somit ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von selbstklebendem Transferpapier, insbesondere für den Tintenstrahldruck, umfassend die Schritte:
- (a) Aufbringen einer ersten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die zu bedruckende Vorderseite eines Papiers, wobei die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält, und nachfolgendes Trocknen,
- (b) gegebenenfalls Aufbringen einer zweiten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die Rückseite des Papiers, wobei die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit gegebenenfalls ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält, und nachfolgendes Trocknen und
- (c) Aufbringen einer dritten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die zu bedruckende Vorderseite des Papiers, wobei die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit einen thermoaktiven Klebstoff, eine Cellulose und einen mehrwertigen Alkohol, insbesondere Glycerin und/oder Ethylenglycol enthält, und nachfolgendes Trocknen.
- Das zur Herstellung des Transferpapiers verwendete Ausgangsmaterial ist ein gebräuchliches Papier, z.B. weißes oder ungebleichtes Papier, mit einem Gewicht von üblicherweise 60-140 g, insbesondere 80-120 g pro m2 Papier.
- Gemäß Schritt (a) des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens wird die zu bedruckende Vorderseite, d.h. diejenige Seite, die anschließend mit Pigmenten beschichtet wird, mit einer ersten wässrigen Flüssigkeit in Kontakt gebracht, die ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer, insbesondere ein Polymer auf Polyacrylat oder Polymethacrylatbasis enthält. Bevorzugt wird ein Polyacrylat und besonders bevorzugt Ammoniumpolyacrylat verwendet. Das zur Beschichtung verwendete Polymer, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat, hat üblicherweise ein gewichtsmittleres Molekulargewicht von 500 Da oder mehr, z.B. 1000-5000 Da und insbesondere 1000-2000 Da. Vorzugsweise enthält die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit das Polymer, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat, in einem Anteil von 10-50 Gew.-%, insbesondere in einem Anteil von 20-40 Gew.-% bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Flüssigkeit. Die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit kann durch übliche Methoden, z.B. mittels einem Rakel wie etwa einer Rakelklinge oder einem Rollenrakel, oder durch Sprühen aufgebracht werden. Nach dem Aufbringen wird das Papier üblicherweise bei erhöhter Temperatur, z.B. 40-80 °C, getrocknet.
- Schritt (b) umfasst vorzugsweise das Aufbringen einer zweiten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die Rückseite des Papiers und nachfolgendes Trocknen. Vorzugsweise enthält die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer, beispielsweise ein Polymer auf Polyacrylat- oder Polymethacrylatbasis. Bevorzugt verwendet man ein Polyacrylat, besonders bevorzugt Ammoniumpolyacrylat. Die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit enthält das Polymer, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat, oder ein anderes organisches Polymer vorzugsweise in einem Anteil von 2 bis 20 Gew.- %, insbesondere in einem Anteil von 5 bis 15 Gew.- % bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Flüssigkeit. Das Aufbringen der zweiten Flüssigkeit und das nachfolgende Trocknen kann wie bei der ersten Flüssigkeit nach bekannten Methoden erfolgen.
- Die erste und gegebenenfalls die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit werden üblicherweise in einer Menge von 10-40 g, insbesondere von 15-25 g pro m2 auf das Papier aufgebracht, wobei in manchen Ausführungsformen auch höhere oder geringere Mengen aufgebracht werden können. Weiterhin bevorzugt ist, dass das Polymer, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat (oder ein anderes hydrophiles Polymer), in einer Menge von 1-25 g, insbesondere von 2-20 g Trockengewicht auf die Vorderseite des Papiers aufgebracht wird. Auf die Rückseite wird das Polymer, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat (oder ein anderes hydrophiles Polymer), vorzugsweise in einer Menge von 0,5-15 g, insbesondere von 1-10 g Trockengewicht aufgebracht.
- Die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit und gegebenenfalls auch die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit können einen sauren, neutralen oder alkalischen pH-Wert aufweisen. Bevorzugt weisen die erste und die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit einen sauren bis neutralen pH-Wert, z.B. einen pH-Wert von 4-7, beispielsweise von 5-6 auf.
- Schritt (c) umfasst das Aufbringen einer dritten wässrigen Flüssigkeit, die einen thermoaktiven Klebstoff, beispielsweise einen Silikonklebstoff oder einen anderen Klebstoff, enthält, der bei einer erhöhten Temperatur von beispielsweise 60-110 °C oder mehr Klebeeigenschaften besitzt und an den zu bedruckenden Materialien, z.B. Textilien, haftet. Nach Abkühlung auf niedrigere Temperaturen, z.B. auf Raumtemperatur, verliert der thermoaktive Klebstoff seine Haftungseigenschaften wieder. Geeignete thermoaktive Klebstoffe sind kommerziell erhältlich, z.B. von Bayer oder Ciba-Geigy.
- Darüber hinaus enthält die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit eine Cellulose, z.B. Carboxymethylcellulose, Methylcellulose, Ethylcellulose, Hydroxymethylcellulose, Hydroxyethylcellulose etc. Besonders bevorzugt ist die Cellulose eine Carboxymethylcellulose. Geeignete Carboxymethylcellulosen sind kommerziell erhältlich, z.B. von Hoechst AG.
- Weiterhin enthält die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit mehrwertige Alkohole, z.B. C2-5-Alkohole, wie etwa Glycerin und/oder Ethylenglycol.
- In besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsformen enthält die dritte Flüssigkeit folgende Komponenten ausgewählt aus
- (i) einem thermoaktiven Klebstoff wie etwa einem Silikonklebstoff, z.B. in Anteilen von 1-20 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 2-15 Gew.-%,
- (ii) einer Cellulose, wie etwa Carboxymethylcellulose, z.B. in Anteilen von 5-30 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 10-20 Gew.-%, und
- (iii) einem mehrwertigen Alkohol wie etwa Glycerin und/oder Ethylenglycol, z.B. in Anteilen von 5-30 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 10-20 Gew.-%, wobei sich die Gewichtsanteile jeweils auf das Gesamtgewicht der dritten Flüssigkeit beziehen.
- Neben den genannten Zusatzstoffen besteht der Rest der Flüssigkeit vorzugsweise aus Wasser. Der Anteil an Wasser in der ersten Flüssigkeit ist vorzugsweise ≥ 40 Gew.-%, insbesondere ≥ 50 Gew.-%. Organische flüchtige Lösungsmittel sind vorzugsweise nicht vorhanden.
- Die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit wird üblicherweise in einer Menge von 10-40 g/m2, insbesondere von 20-30 g/m2 auf das Papier aufgebracht, wobei in manchen Ausführungsformen auch höhere oder geringere Mengen aufgebracht werden. Die Trocknung der dritten Flüssigkeit erfolgt nach bekannten Methoden wie für die erste und zweite Flüssigkeit beschrieben. Der mehrwertige Alkohol wird während des Trocknungsvorgangs üblicherweise nicht im nennenswerten Umfang entfernt und bleibt auf dem getrockneten Papier erhalten.
- Im Folgenden sind bevorzugte spezifische Beispiele für erfindungsgemäße wässrige Flüssigkeiten zur Beschichtung der Papiervorderseite wie folgt angegeben:
-
NaOH 0,1-0,5 Gew.-% Ammoniumpolyacrylat 20-40 Gew.-% Rest H2O pH 5-6 -
NaOH 0,02-0,2 Gew.-% Ammoniumpolyacrylat 5-15 Gew.-% Rest H2O pH 5-6 -
Thermoaktiver Klebstoff 2-15 Gew.-% Carboxymethylcellulose 10-20 Gew.-% Glycerin und/oder Ethylenglycol 10-20 Gew.-% Rest H2O - Ein weiterer Aspekt der Erfindung ist ein selbstklebendes Transferpapier, insbesondere für den Tintenstrahldruck, welches durch ein Verfahren wie oben beschrieben erhältlich ist.
- Noch ein weiterer Aspekt der Erfindung ist ein selbstklebendes Transferpapier, insbesondere für den Tintenstrahldruck, welches auf der zu bedruckenden Vorderseite mit einem thermoaktiven Klebstoff, einem Polymer auf Acrylatbasis, insbesondere Ammoniumpolyacrylat, z.B. in einer Menge von 1-25g/m2 Papier, und einer Cellulose, insbesondere Carboxymethylcellulose, insbesondere in einer Menge von 0,5-2 g/m2 Papier beschichtet ist. Weiterhin kann die Papierbeschichtung auch einen mehrwertigen Alkohol, z.B. Ethylenglycol und/oder Glycerin, enthalten. Auf der Rückseite ist das Transferpapier gegebenenfalls mit einem hydrophilen Polymer, z.B. einem Polymer auf Acrylatbasis wie etwa Ammoniumpolyacrylat, insbesondere in einer Menge von 0,5-15 g/m2 Papier beschichtet.
- Noch ein weiterer Aspekt der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zum Bedrucken von Transferpapier, wobei man eine Schicht sublimierbarer Pigmente auf die Vorderseite eines selbstklebenden Transferpapiers wie zuvor beschrieben, z.B. durch Tintenstrahldruck, aufbringt. Die Pigmente können in üblichen Drucktinten mit gebräuchlichen Geräten, z.B. Tintenstrahldruckern, nach bekannten Methoden aufgebracht werden. Nach dem Aufbringen wird das bedruckte Transferpapier bei Raumtemperatur oder bei erhöhter Temperatur bis zu 80 °C getrocknet. Überraschenderweise wurde festgestellt, dass die Pigmente beim Aufbringen und Trocknen keine Neigung zum Verschmieren zeigen.
- Das bedruckte selbstklebende Transferpapier kann auf bekannte Weise zum Bedrucken von Gegenständen, insbesondere Textilien, verwendet werden.
- Noch ein weiterer Aspekt der vorliegenden Erfindung ist somit ein bedrucktes selbstklebendes Transferpapier zum Bedrucken von Gegenständen, insbesondere Textilien, das auf der Vorderseite mit einem thermoaktiven Klebstoff, einem Polymer auf Acrylatbasis, z.B. Ammoniumpolyacrylat, und einer Cellulose, z.B. Carboxymethylcellulose, sowie mit sublimierbaren Pigmenten beschichtet ist. Weiterhin kann die Papierbeschichtung auch einen mehrwertigen Alkohol, z.B. Ethylenglycol und/oder Glycerin, enthalten.
- Die zu bedruckenden Textilien sind üblicherweise ungefärbt bzw. weiß. Gegebenenfalls können jedoch auch vorgefärbte Textilien eingesetzt werden. Es handelt sich um übliche Textilien, z.B. auch Textilien auf Polyester- und/oder Polyamidbasis, die vorzugsweise einen Anteil von mindestens 40-60 Gew.% Polyester- und/oder Polyamidfasern enthalten, oder die mit Polyester und/oder Polyamid beschichtet sind.
- Überraschenderweise können mit dem erfindungsgemäßen selbstklebenden Transferpapier auch dehnbare Textilien ohne Verschmieren beschichtet werden. Das selbstklebende Papier haftet nach Erwärmen auf eine Temperatur von ≥ 60-110 °C an dem zu bedruckenden Material, so dass die Farbübertragung von Papier auf das zu bedruckende Material mittels konventioneller Walzendruckverfahren ohne Verschmieren der Pigmente möglich ist. Wenn der Vorgang der Farbübertragung abgeschlossen ist, kann das selbstklebende Papier nach Abkühlung wieder ohne Weiteres von dem zu bedruckenden Material abgezogen werden.
- Noch ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung ist somit ein Verfahren zum Bedrucken von Gegenständen, insbesondere Textilien, z.B. auf Polyester - oder Polyamidbasis, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man den zu bedruckenden Gegenstand mit einem bedruckten selbstklebenden Transferpapier wie oben beschrieben bei erhöhter Temperatur, z.B. 160-240° C, in Kontakt bringt, so dass sublimierbare Pigmente vom Transferpapier auf den zu bedruckenden Gegenstand übertragen werden.
Claims (14)
- Verfahren zur Herstellung von selbstklebendem Transferpapier, umfassend die Schritte:(a) Aufbringen einer ersten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die zu bedruckende Vorderseite eines Papiers, wobei die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält, und nachfolgendes Trocknen,(b) gegebenenfalls Aufbringen einer zweiten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die Rückseite des Papiers, wobei die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit gegebenenfalls ein hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält, und nachfolgendes Trocknen, und(c) Aufbringen einer dritten wässrigen Flüssigkeit auf die zu bedruckende Vorderseite des Papiers, wobei die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit einen thermoaktiven Klebstoff, nämlich einen Silikonklebstoff oder einen anderen Klebstoff, der bei einer Temperatur von 60-110 °C Klebeeigenschaften besitzt und nach Abfühlen seine Haftungseigenschaften wieder verliert, eine Cellulose und einen mehrwertigen Alkohol enthält und nachfolgendes Trocknen.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die erste wässrige Flüssigkeit ein Polyacrylat als hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält. - Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit ein Polyacrylat als hydrophiles organisches Polymer enthält. - Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die erste und gegebenenfalls die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit in einer Menge von 10-40 g pro m2 auf das Papier aufgebracht werden. - Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass das hydrophile Polymer in einer Menge von 1-25 g Trockengewicht auf die Vorderseite des Papiers aufgebracht wird. - Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die erste und gegebenenfalls die zweite wässrige Flüssigkeit einen pH-Wert von 5-6 aufweisen. - Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die dritte Flüssigkeit folgende Komponenten enthält,(i) einen thermoaktiven Klebstoff in Anteilen von 1-20 Gew.%,(ii) eine Cellulose, in Anteilen von 5-30 Gew.%, und(iii) einen mehrwertigen Alkohol in Anteilen von 5-30 Gew.-%,wobei sich die Gewichtsanteile jeweils auf das Gesamtgewicht der dritten Flüssigkeit beziehen. - Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die dritte wässrige Flüssigkeit in einer Menge von 10-40 g/m2 auf das Papier aufgebracht wird. - Selbstklebendes Transferpapier, insbesondere für den Tintenstrahldruck, erhältlich durch ein Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8.
- Selbstklebendes Transferpapier, insbesondere für den Tintenstrahldruck,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass es auf der zu bedruckenden Vorderseite mit einem thermoaktiven Klebstoff, nämlich einen Silikonklebstoff oder einen anderen Klebstoff, der bei einer Temperatur von 60-110°C Klebeeigenschaften besitzt und nach Abkühlen seine Haftungseigenschaften wieder verliert, einem Polymer auf Acrylatbasis und einer Cellulose beschichtet ist. - Verfahren zum Bedrucken von Transferpapier,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass man eine Schicht sublimierbarer Pigmente auf die Vorderseite eines selbstklebenden Transferpapiers nach Anspruch 9 oder 10 aufbringt. - Bedrucktes selbstklebendes Transferpapier zum Bedrucken von Gegenständen, insbesondere Textilien,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein sellstklebendes Transforpapier nach Anspruch 10 auf der Vorderseite mit sublimierbaren Pigmenten beschichtet ist. - Verfahren zum Bedrucken von Gegenständen, insbesondere Textilien,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass man den zu bedruckenden Gegenstand mit einem bedruckten selbstklebenden Transferpapier nach Anspruch 12 bei erhöhter Temperatur in Kontakt bringt, so dass sublimierbare Pigmente vom Transferpapier auf den zu bedruckenden Gegenstand übertragen werden. - Verfahren nach Anspruch 13,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Übertragung der Pigmente vom Papier auf den zu bedruckenden Gegenstand durch Walzendruck erfolgt.
