- A method for the control of the singled-out feeding of sheets from a sheet feeder to a sheet processing machine with a stack support plate of the sheet feeder on which a sheet stack (1) can be placed and which can be vertically adjusted through a lifting device, and with a suction head (4) of the sheet feeder arranged above the sheet stack (1), comprising a separating suction device (6) that can be driven vertically moveably and/or a drag suction device (8) that can be driven horizontally moveably in and against the conveying direction, wherein the stack support plate can be regulated to a certain vertical distance (3) between the uppermost sheet (2) of the sheet stack (1) and the suction head (4), which can be sensed through a sensing device (5), characterized in that from the sensing device (5) distance signals corresponding to the respective vertical distance are fed to a control unit (12) which controls both the working operation of the sheet feeder and of the suction head (4) as well as activates the lifting device upon deviation from a predetermined vertical distance value within a tolerance range and lifts the stack support plate so that the uppermost sheet (2) again assumes the defined vertical distance (3) and in that when a distance to the uppermost sheet located outside the tolerance range is detected (2) by the sensing device (5) and a corresponding signal is supplied to the control unit (12), the control unit (12) switches the suction head (4) inactive, so that with a sheet stack (1) lowered below the tolerance range it is prevented that an object reaching the movement range of separating suction device (6) and drag suction device (8) is pressed and squashed through the separating suction device (6) and/or drag suction device (8).
- A sheet feeder for carrying out the method according to Claim 1 with a stack support plate on which a sheet stack (1) can be placed and which is vertically adjustable through a lifting device, and with a suction head (4) arranged above the sheet stack (1), which comprises a separating suction device (6) that can be driven vertically moveably and/or a drag suction device (8) that can be driven horizontally moveably in and against the conveying direction, wherein the stack support plate can be regulated to a certain height distance (3) between the uppermost sheet (2) of the sheet stack (1) and the suction head (4), which can be sensed by a sensing device (5), wherein the sensing device (5) is arranged in the region of the suction head (4), characterized in that from the sensing device (5) distance signals corresponding to the respective vertical distance (3) are supplied to a control unit (12), which controls both the working operation of the sheet feeder and of the suction head (4), as well as upon deviation from a predetermined certain vertical distance value within a tolerance range activates the lifting device and lifts the stack support plate so that the uppermost sheet (2) again assumes the predetermined vertical distance (3) and in that when a distance to the uppermost sheet (2) located outside the tolerance range is detected by the sensing device (5) and a corresponding signal is fed to the control unit (12), the control unit (12) switches the suction head (4) inactive so that with a sheet stack (1) lowered below the tolerance range it is prevented that an objected reaching the movement range of separating suction device (6) and drag suction device (8) is pressed and squashed through the separating suction device (6) and/or drag suction device (8).
- The sheet feeder according to Claim 2, characterized in that the sensing device is a presser foot through which the defined vertical distance of the in conveying direction rear end of the sheet stack to the suction head can be sensed.
- The sheet feeder according to Claim 2, characterized in that the sensing device is a distance sensor (5) sensing the defined vertical distance of the sheet stack (1) to the suction head (4) in a contactless manner.
- The sheet feeder according to Claim 4, characterized in that the distance sensor is an optical distance sensor (5).
- The sheet feeder according to any one of the Claims 4 and 5, characterized in that the distance sensor (5) is arranged on the suction head (4).
- The sheet feeder according to any one of the Claims 4 and 5, characterized in that the distance sensor is arranged on a machine frame of the sheet feeder.
