Definitions
- the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the lifting speed of the suction head lifting device can be greater, preferably 10-20%, greater than the lifting speed of the stacking elevator device.
- Another advantageous measure can be that when using the up and down presser foot, which is usually present on the suction head, as the rear stack top edge, the sensing probe is brought into its lowest position when the suction head is stopped. This ensures that the sensor assigned to the suction head is in the waiting position of the Suction head is reliably in the correct position in which the top edge of the stack is detected.
- a sequential circuit can be used, by means of which the vacuum application of the suction cups of the suction head and the compressed air application of the blowing nozzles are activated only after the stack and the suction head have reached the working position. This automatic switching on of vacuum and blown air at the right time ensures that malfunctions do not occur and manual operating errors are excluded.
- the lifting suction devices of the suction head can expediently be brought into their lowest position when the suction head is stopped. This ensures that the suction cups of the suction head are in the waiting position of the suction head in the starting position in which an arc can be reliably picked up when vacuum is applied, which, together with the subsequent circuit mentioned, has a further advantageous effect on avoiding waiting times.
- the drawing shows a schematic side view of a sheet feeder working according to the inventive method, partly in section.
- the sheet feeder shown in the drawing contains a portal-shaped frame 1, in which a stack receiving table 2 is guided to be vertically movable.
- a stack 3 which consists of sheets stacked on top of one another and which are fed to a sheet processing machine, for example a printing machine, with the aid of the sheet feeder, can be placed on the stack receiving table 2.
- the stack receiving table 2 is suspended from an elevator device 4 formed by lifting chains, which is provided with a drive motor 5.
- the front of the stack 3 rests on front stops 6 formed by vertical strips. The remaining stack pages are free.
- the uppermost sheet In the working position, the uppermost sheet must be able to pass over the front stops 6. To set this working position, the front top edge 7 of the stack is scanned.
- a sensor 8 which is arranged at the desired height and is assigned to the front top edge 7 of the stack, is provided, by means of which the motor 5 can be operated until the stack 3 is at the desired height.
- the signals generated by the sensor 8 are processed by means of a control device 9 into corresponding switch-on signals for the motor 5, as indicated by signal lines 10, 11 leading from the sensor 8 to the control device 9 and from there to the motor 5.
- the control device 9 can be designed such that all functions of the sheet feeder can be controlled hereby.
- the sensor 8 can be designed as a mechanical button that can interact with a two-point switch. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the sensor 8 is designed as a non-contact sensor, for example in the form of a reflex switch, which generates signals which can be processed directly with the aid of the control device 9.
- the stack receiving table 2 is raised step by step when processing a stack. so that the front top edge 7 of the stack is always in the desired working position, in which the top sheet can pass over the front stops 6.
- the lifting movement is also limited by the sensor 8. This can be done in two stages take place in such a way that the new stack is first moved upwards from the lowest position to a position shortly before the working position and then raised slowly to the working position.
- a monitoring device 12 is provided below the working position, here positioned in the area of the front stops 6, for example in the form of a photocell, which triggers the desired switching operation as soon as it is run over by the stack 3, such as is indicated by a signal line 13 leading to the control device 9.
- a suction head 14 Arranged above the stack 3 is a suction head 14 which has a suction cup 15 for lifting the top sheet of the stack 3 and a suction cup 16 for forward transport of the sheets taken over by the suction cups. During forward transport, these are handed over to a further transport means assigned to a feed table 17.
- the lifting and dragging suction devices 15, 16 can be subjected to a vacuum during operation.
- a vacuum line 18 leading from a vacuum source, not shown, to the suction head 14 is provided, which can be switched off by means of a switching device 19.
- the suction head 14 is provided with a presser foot 21 which rests on the upper trailing edge 20 of the stack at each work cycle.
- blowing nozzles 37 which Via a compressed air line 22, which can be switched off by means of a switching device 23, are connected to a compressed air source, not shown.
- the switching devices 19 and 23, for example in the form of switching valves, can be controlled by means of the control device 9, as indicated by signal lines 24 and 25.
- the vacuum loading of the suction cups and the initially operating lifting suction cup 15 and the compressed air loading of the blowing nozzles take place here only when the stack 3 and the suction head 14 have reached their working position.
- the suction head 14 is displaceably guided on a longitudinal guide 26, which runs parallel to the sheet transport direction and is formed by a square rail fastened to the feeder frame and aligned parallel to the stack receiving table 2. With each format change, the suction head 14 is shifted so that the presser foot 21 strikes the rear top edge 20 of the stack.
- a threaded spindle 28 which can be driven by means of a servomotor 27 is used, which is supported on the longitudinal guide 26 in the axial direction and engages in a threaded sleeve of the suction head 14 which projects laterally over the longitudinal guide 26.
- the set operating position can be locked by means of a tensioning device, not shown.
- the servomotor 27 can be controlled via the control device 9. This can be provided with an input device 30 for manual input of the format.
- the format of the new batch is entered here. The actuation of the drive motor 5 of the elevator device 4 is only released when the suction head 14 is set to the new format.
- the working height of the suction head 14 is set in accordance with the rear top edge 20 of the stack, which can deviate from the front top edge 7 of the stack, as indicated by the angle ⁇ .
- the longitudinal guide 26 assigned to the suction head 14, together with the associated actuating device is accommodated on threaded spindles 31 accommodated perpendicular to the level of the stack receiving table 2 or to the sheet transport plane on the feeder frame, which can be driven via a respective assigned bevel gear.
- the two bevel gear counters are connected to one another via a shaft 32 which is parallel to the longitudinal guide and which can be driven via an associated servomotor 33.
- two uniformly drivable spindles 31 are provided on the front and rear ends of the longitudinal guide 26.
- the control of the servomotor 33 takes place, as indicated by a signal line 34, by means of the control device 9 as a function of signals emitted by the presser foot 21, which can be fed to the control device 9 via the signal line 35.
- the presser foot 21 practically forms a mechanical sensor which scans the rear top edge 20 of the stack.
- the presser foot 21 can cooperate with a two-point switch, not shown, so that switching signals are generated below a certain position and above a certain position, which can be processed by the control device 9 to switch on or off commands for the servomotor 33.
- the suction head 14 is always held at the same distance from the rear stack upper edge 20 by means of the above-mentioned device for its height adjustment, regardless of the position of the front stack upper edge 7, which can deviate from the front stack upper edge. If after the processing of a stack 3 the then empty stack receiving table 2 is moved down, the suction head 14 is also brought into its lowest position at the same time. For this purpose, the servomotor 33 is switched on by means of the control 9 until the threaded bushings penetrated by the spindles 31 come to rest on the lower stops. The presser foot 21 is also in its lower position.
- the suction head 14 is switched off in phase after the processing of a stack by means of the control device 9, ie in such a way that the presser foot 21 is in its lowest position.
- the above-mentioned, in-phase shutdown of the suction head 14 by means of the control device 9 is indicated by the signal line 36.
- the downward movement of the suction head 14 in its lower waiting position does not have to start simultaneously with the downward movement of the empty stack receiving table 2, but can take place at another time, for example with the format setting of the suction head 14 or when switching the elevator device from fast to slow speed and the like.
- the suction head 14 set to the new format and brought into its lowest position waits until its presser foot 21, which is also extended downwards, meets the rear upper stack edge 20 as the height sensor assigned to the upper rear trailing edge 20. If the presser foot 21 is raised so far that the cooperating two-point switch switches, this results in a switch-on signal for the servomotor 33, whereby the suction head 14 is raised until the presser foot 21 is extended again so far that the lower contact of the hereby interacting two-point switch is actuated.
- the actuation of the servomotor 33 to accomplish the above-mentioned lifting movement takes place in such a way that the lifting speed of the suction head 14 achieved corresponds at least to the lifting speed of the new stack raised by means of the elevator device 4 or is preferably somewhat larger. A speed difference of 10-20% is particularly preferable. This results in a gradual stroke movement of the suction head 14.
- the speed ratios mentioned naturally also apply to stroke movements during normal contact operation.
- the elevator device 4 and thus also the height adjustment device of the suction head 14 are passivated, as a result of which the stack 3 and the suction head 14 are in their working position stop.
- the creation process can be started without further delay kick off.
- first the suction cups 15 and then the suction cups 16 are acted upon by vacuum and the blowing nozzles of the presser foot 21 are supplied with blowing air.
- this loading takes place as a function of reaching the working position of the suction head 14.
- the control device 9 is accordingly provided with a suitable sequential circuit.

Abstract
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren gemäß Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1.The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of
In known arrangements which can be operated in this way ( DE 36 22 693 A1 ), the suction head is brought into its uppermost position after a stack has been processed, ie during the downward stroke of the empty stack holder. The suction head remains in this waiting position until the top edge of a new stack has reached the working height. Only then is the suction head lowered, whereby it probes into the correct position by means of its sensor which scans the rear top edge of the stack. This requires a comparatively long response time, which has an unfavorable effect on the productivity that can be achieved.
Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to improve a method of the type mentioned at the beginning with simple and inexpensive means in such a way that high productivity can be achieved.
This object is achieved by the characterizing measures of
These measures ensure that the suction head practically reaches its working position together with the stack. Setting times between reaching the working position of the stack and the working position of the suction head are advantageously eliminated. However, due to the coordinated lifting speeds of the stack and suction head, impermissible collisions are excluded. The measures according to the invention thus advantageously ensure high productivity, ease of use, freedom from faults and operational reliability.
In an advantageous development of the higher-level measures, the lifting speed of the suction head lifting device can be greater, preferably 10-20%, greater than the lifting speed of the stacking elevator device. These measures advantageously result in a gradual stroke movement of the suction head, as a result of which particularly high operational reliability and freedom from interference can be achieved.
Another advantageous measure can be that when using the up and down presser foot, which is usually present on the suction head, as the rear stack top edge, the sensing probe is brought into its lowest position when the suction head is stopped. This ensures that the sensor assigned to the suction head is in the waiting position of the Suction head is reliably in the correct position in which the top edge of the stack is detected.
In a further development of the superordinate measures, a sequential circuit can be used, by means of which the vacuum application of the suction cups of the suction head and the compressed air application of the blowing nozzles are activated only after the stack and the suction head have reached the working position. This automatic switching on of vacuum and blown air at the right time ensures that malfunctions do not occur and manual operating errors are excluded.
The lifting suction devices of the suction head can expediently be brought into their lowest position when the suction head is stopped. This ensures that the suction cups of the suction head are in the waiting position of the suction head in the starting position in which an arc can be reliably picked up when vacuum is applied, which, together with the subsequent circuit mentioned, has a further advantageous effect on avoiding waiting times.
Further advantageous refinements and expedient further developments of the superordinate measures result from the following description of the example with reference to the drawing in conjunction with the remaining subclaims.
The drawing shows a schematic side view of a sheet feeder working according to the inventive method, partly in section.
The sheet feeder shown in the drawing contains a portal-
In the working position, the uppermost sheet must be able to pass over the
With the help of the
Arranged above the
The
The working height of the
During the processing of a
In this waiting position, the
As soon as a new stack has reached its working position when starting up, i.e. as soon as the

- The method as claimed in either one of the preceding claims, characterized in that as the sensor responsive to the rear top edge (20) of the stack a presser foot (21) is employed, which is moved upwards and downwards and is mounted on the suction head (14) and which, when the suction head (14) halts, is moved into its lowermost position.
- The method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that as a lifting device (31, 32 and 33) associated with the suction head a parallel motion shifting device is utilized.
- The method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the elevator device associated with the stack receiving table (2) is only released after the suction head (14) has been adjusted by means of the associated shifting device (26, 27 and 28) to the correct format.
- The method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a sequencing circuit is employed, by means of which the supply of vacuum to the suction means (15) of the suction head is only activated after the working position of the stack (3) as detected by the sensor (7) responsive to the leading top edge (8) of the stack, has been reached.
- The method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lifting suction means (15) is moved into its lowermost position when the suction head (14) is halted.
- The method as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a sequencing circuit is employed, by means of which the supply of blowing air to nozzles is only activated after reaching the working position of the stack (3) as detected by the sensor (8) responsive to the leading top stack edge (7).
