Definitions
- the invention relates to a folding device for printing sheet, with a saddle-shaped folding blade, on which the sheets are folded in a continuous and having an inner guide member, with an outer, follower folding member, which cooperates for folding the sheet with the guide member.
- Folding devices of the type mentioned are known.
- the sheets to be folded are guided to a stationary folding blade and folded on this continuously with the outer, trailing folding member.
- the follower folding mechanism is formed for example by bands, round strings, V-belts or chains.
- the disadvantage here in particular, that the folding in such a folding device takes place only gradually and only at the end of the folding process, the printed sheet lie positively against the folding blade. Only at this end of the folding process, the sheets are held securely and can be transported without slippage. Before this end, the printed sheets are very unstable and may deviate from the intended course, which results in an inaccurate folding.
- Another difficulty is that the sheets to be folded are slowed down on their inside by the stationary folding blade and tend to smearing at best. The stronger the more the external folding organ acts.
- the inner folding member is for example a chain with attached roof-shaped elements or is formed for example by round strings.
- a generic folding device has become known, in which the inner folding member is formed by a linear array of folding rollers.
- the inner folding member should be fine on the one hand, so that a sharp, complete and closed as possible fold can be formed and on the other hand, this folding member should be robust, because the folding member should not be bent or damaged even with clogging, which requires a certain size. These two requirements are contradictory, requiring compromises in one direction or the other. If the inner folding mechanism is formed by successive rollers in accordance with the cited Swiss patent specification, then there is the difficulty that the leading edges of the sheet to be folded must always run over the next roller during the folding process.
- the pre-published DE 37 07 478 A discloses a device for flowing folding of bow resp. sheet-like material along a straight conveyor line, including a wedge-shaped fold rail is used, on which an endless, driven conveyor belt slides and both sides are provided circumferential forming strands.
- the invention has for its object to provide a folding device of the type mentioned, which allows a more precise folding and yet easy, robust and inexpensive can be produced.
- the object is achieved in a generic folding device characterized in that the inner guide member is disposed below a standing folded edge of the folding blade. With this folding device, a fine, saddle-shaped and continuous fold line can be formed at the folding blade.
- the inner guide member is arranged where the outer folding member engages and transports the sheet. As a result, the sheet to be folded is clearly and continuously guided. The undesirable sliding of the sheet on the folding blade is thus effectively prevented.
- the inner guide member is formed so that it protrudes on lateral guide surfaces of the folding blade.
- the areas where the sheets are fed can be accurately determined. If, according to a development of the invention, the folding blade tapers in the running direction at least in a front region, then the printed sheets can be largely closed and yet the folding blade can be made robust.
- the inner guide member is formed by a plurality of rollers arranged in a line. These are preferably arranged so that they project laterally with at least one outer edge on the guide surfaces of the folding blade. A particularly good guidance results when the rollers have at least one edge an area which is substantially parallel to a lateral guide surface of the folding blade.
- the outer, follower folding member is formed by two strands, preferably by two V-belts.
- a particularly stable guidance of the printed sheets results when these V-belts are not simply delivered to the folding blade, but when they are wound along the folding blade according to the delivery.
- the sheets are thus very stable during the folding process and stretched over the edge of the folding blade. The sheets are thus stably guided over the entire range of the folding blade and slipping and other deviations from the intended path are effectively avoided.
- the sheets to be folded 3 are previously stacked in a stack 2. From this stack 2 each of the lowermost sheet 3 is tipped by a sucker 5 in the detection range of a gripper drum 7. Grippers 6 of this gripper drum 7 each capture a tipped sheet 3 and pull this out of the stack 2.
- the withdrawn sheet 3 can be notched with a not shown notch or weakened or prepared to prepare the fold in other ways, for example by moistening.
- the withdrawn sheet 3 are each guided individually by transfer belts 10 and 9 to an inlet 32 of a folding path 33.
- This folding section 33 is essentially formed by a folding blade 18, two endless strands 12 and two press rollers 16.
- the gripper drum 7 is driven by a shaft 8 in the direction of the arrow 35.
- the drive shaft 8 takes place with a drive member 34.
- the transfer belts 10 are driven by the gripper drum 7 and these are guided so that they in turn drive the press rollers 16 and two guide rollers 29. From the drive member 34 wheel 13 'is driven, which in turn drives the strands 12. This ensures synchronous operation of the gripper drum 7 with the press rollers 16 and the two strands 12.
- the voltage of the feed belts 10 can be adjusted.
- the folding blade 18 has according to the Fig. 3 to 5 two halves 18a and 18b, which are juxtaposed and releasably connected together by screws 35. Between these halves 18a and 18b exceptions 25 are omitted, in each of which a roller 26 is mounted; the rollers 26 are arranged in a row. The storage takes place in each case with a cap screw 24, which is screwed into the half 18a or 18b and a pivot bearing 27. These exceptions 25 each have below a folded edge 22 for each roller 26 window 36, according to Fig. 3 are formed circular section. These windows 36 are each located in an upper portion of a vertical inclined guide surface 21 a and 21 b.
- the rollers 26 work together for the folding process with the two strands 12, which form an outer folding member 38 with guide rollers 13, the guide rollers 29 and further guide rollers 37.
- the two strands 12 are preferably V-belts, which the example in Fig. 7 have shown trapezoidal cross-section.
- the strands 12 can also be configured, for example, as round strings, bands or chains.
- the running direction of the two strands 12 is in Fig. 1 through the Arrow 39 indicated.
- the guide roller 13 ' the two strands 12 are deflected to the folding path 33 and on the roller 13''leave the strands 12 this folding section 33 again.
- the guide rollers 37 are located in the region of the folding path 33 and are arranged so that the two strands 12 according to Fig. 9 or 10 be delivered to the folding blade 18.
- the two strands 12 are wound in the region of the folding section 33 about their longitudinal direction. Shortly after the inlet 32, the two strands 12 are so twisted according to the cross-section shown in solid lines that they rest with lower edges 40 elastically in the region of the fold line 22a at the folded edge 22. A sheet 3 to be folded is thus guided in the region of the fold to be formed at the fold line 22. Since the sheets 3 are comparatively wide open in this case, and since the folded edge 22 is comparatively sharp in the region of the fold line 22a, the friction surface is comparatively small. In the further course, the two strands 12 each migrate opposite each other with the said edges 40 downwards and first into the in Fig. 9 indicated by dash-dotted lines position.
- the edges 40 reach the area of the surfaces 31 and in this case fold the printed sheet 3 about the fold line 22a.
- the correspondingly folded sheet 3 is also indicated at this point by a dot-dash line.
- the strands 12 reach the position shown by the dashed line. In this, the two strands 12 are also resiliently pressed against the surfaces 31 of the respective rollers 26. Between the surfaces 41 and the surfaces 31 of the rollers 26 of the sheet 3 '' held by the contact force of the two strands 12 and carried.
- the rollers 26 are passively rotated in this case.
- the friction of the sheet 3 "on the side surfaces 21a and 21b is comparatively small, and yet the sheet is surely guided at all times. It is essential that the sheet 3 is already guided by the edges 40 at the beginning of the folding section 33.
- the sheet 3 to be folded is thus transported in a straight line and without substantial deviation of the web in the region of the folding path 33. Accordingly, a precise fold line is formed.
- the two strands 12 are not twisted and move as shown undamaged about their longitudinal axis from top to bottom.
- the lowest position shown with dashed lines corresponds to the lowest position according to FIG Fig. 9 .
- the sheet 3 is thus not elastically pressed against the folded edge 22 and accordingly, the sheet 3 is less guided than in the Fig. 9 explained delivery.
- the delivery according to Fig. 10 is a variant according to the invention.
- the width and the contact surface of the rollers 26 is adapted to the outer folding members, such as, for example, that the width of the rollers 26 decreases in the paper direction.
- the strands 12 are lifted off the folding blade 18.
- the folded sheets 3 now pass between the two press rollers 16 and are closed by them.
- the sheets 3 now reach the in Fig. 1 shown horizontally extending tongue 42 and are detected from there by driver 20 of a gathering chain 19 and after the Leaving the tongue 42 stored on the gathering chain 19 and passed with this to a further processing station not shown here.
- the tongue 42 and gathering chain 19 are not mandatory and can also be replaced by other means of transport.
