Abstract

Vorrichtung und Verfahren, welche das Auswechseln von bildtragenden Platten oder Kassetten in einer Offsetdruckmaschine ermöglichen, ohne daß die Druckmaschine angehalten werden muß. Jeder Gummituchzylinder ist mit zwei Bildzylindern verbunden, wobei jeder Bildzylinder eine zugehörige bildtragende Platte oder Kassette umfaßt. Wenn einer der Bildzylinder mit dem Gummituchzylinder in Eingriff steht, wodurch ein Bild zum Drucken auf der Bahn übertragen wird, ist der andere Bildzylinder von dem Gummituchzylinder gelöst. Als Ergebnis wird der andere Bildzylinder angehalten, wodurch die bildtragende Platte oder Kassette ausgewechselt werden kann, ohne daß der gesamte Betrieb der Druckmaschine gestoppt werden muß. Nach dem Auswechseln der bildtragenden Platte oder Kassette auf dem angehaltenen Bildzylinder kann dieser Bildzylinder dann mit dem Gummituchzylinder in Eingriff gebracht werden, während der andere Bildzylinder gelöst wird, wodurch danach die bildtragende Platte oder Kassette dieses Bildzylinders ausgewechselt werden kann. Die vorliegende Erfindung kann eine Antriebs- und Kupplungsanordnung umfassen, welche einen Wiederanlauf und ein Ineingriffbringen mit dem Gummituchzylinder eines zum Auswechseln der bildtragenden Platte oder Kassette angehaltenen Bildzylinders ermöglicht, während der andere Bildzylinder, der mit dem Gummituchzylinder in Eingriff war, und das Drucken auf der Bahn gestoppt werden. In einer alternativen Ausführung der vorliegenden Erfindung sind zwei Bildzylinder und Farbwerke zusammen auf einem Rahmen zur seitlichen Bewegung relativ zum Gummituchzylinder so angebracht, daß ein seitliches Bewegen von einem Bildzylinder und Farbwerk vom Gummituchzylinder weg und aus dem Eingriff mit diesem heraus zum seitlichen Bewegen des anderen Bildzylinders und Farbwerks auf den Gummituchzylinder zu und in Eingriff mit diesem führt.

Apparatus and method which enable the exchange of image-bearing plates or cassettes in an offset printing machine without the printing machine having to be stopped. Each blanket cylinder is connected to two image cylinders, each image cylinder comprising an associated image-bearing plate or cassette. When one of the image cylinders engages the blanket cylinder, thereby transferring an image for printing on the web, the other image cylinder is released from the blanket cylinder. As a result, the other image cylinder is stopped, whereby the image bearing plate or cassette can be replaced without having to stop the entire operation of the printing machine. After replacing the image-bearing plate or cassette on the stopped image cylinder, this image cylinder can then be brought into engagement with the blanket cylinder while the other image cylinder is being released, whereby the image-bearing plate or cassette of this image cylinder can then be exchanged. The present invention may include a drive and clutch assembly which enables restarting and engaging the blanket cylinder of an image cylinder stopped to replace the image-bearing plate or cassette while the other image cylinder which was engaged with the blanket cylinder and printing on the same Web to be stopped. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, two image cylinders and inking units are mounted together on a frame for lateral movement relative to the blanket cylinder such that lateral movement of one image cylinder and inking unit away from the blanket cylinder and out of engagement therewith for laterally moving the other image cylinder and inking unit leads to the blanket cylinder and engages with it.
