Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an electric timepiece, in particular a wristwatch, the timepiece of which is constituted by a quartz oscillator driving an electric motor ensuring the driving of the time indicating organs.
  • the object of the present invention is to make such a timepiece more attractive by giving it the appearance of a mechanical timepiece of which at least part of the regulating members is visible.
  • Fig. 1 is a plan view of a wristwatch.
  • Fig. 2 is a plan view, on an enlarged scale, of a detail of this watch.
  • Fig. 3 is a plan view of the movement of the watch in FIG. 1, on a larger scale, and
  • Figs. 4 a and 4 b together form a section of the movement along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
  • the watch shown in fig. 1, generally designated by 1, is a round, electric wristwatch, provided with a battery 2 (fig. 3), comprising an electronic module 3 comprising a timepiece constituted by a quartz oscillator which controls an electric motor 4.
  • the rotor of the latter designated by 5 (figs. 3 and 4 b ), drives, by means of three mobiles 6, 7 and 8, a carriageway 9 carrying a minute hand 10.
  • the carriageway 9 carries an hour cannon wheel 11 on which is mounted the hour hand, designated by 12.
  • the center of rotation 13 of the two hands 10 and 12 is located on the diameter 6 o'clock-12 o'clock, designated by 14 (fig. 1) of the watch, offset from the center of the latter.
  • the dial of the watch, designated by 15, carries an hour turn 16 whose radius is slightly greater than the distance between the center of rotation 13 of the hands and the center of the dial.
  • the watch described and shown, although being electric, is provided with a balance and an exhaust, visible from the outside, the purpose of which is essentially decorative and attractive.
  • This balance designated by 17 (fig. 4 a )
  • This balance has its axis located on the diameter 14 of the watch, symmetrical with the center 13 of the hands relative to the center of the watch.
  • the movements of this pendulum are maintained by an anchor 18.
  • the mechanism being of the so-called vortex type, the anchor 18 is mounted on a rotary cage formed by a base 19 and an upper board 20 assembled by pillars 21, the axis of rotation of which is coaxial with the balance 17.
  • This anchor 18 cooperates with an escape wheel 22 (figs. 2 and 4 a ) driven in rotation by the motor 4.
  • the connection between the latter and the escape wheel is provided as follows:
  • the pinion, designated by 8 a , of the mobile 8 of the gear train connecting the rotor 5 of the motor 4 to the roadway 9 meshes with a wheel 23 superimposed on a wheel 24 of which it is coaxial.
  • a spiral spring 25 disposed between these two wheels 23 and 24 is secured, by its inner turn, to a hub 26 of the wheel 24 and, by its outer end, to a pin 27 carried by the wheel 23.
  • the wheel 24 meshes with the pinion, designated by 28 a , of a mobile 28 whose wheel, designated by 28 b , is engaged with a pinion 29, coaxial with the balance 17, integral with a core 30, said to be seconds of the fact that it is driven at the speed of one revolution per minute, which is itself integral with the base 19 of the tourbillon cage. The latter is thus driven by the motor 4.
  • the pinion, designated by 31, of the escapement wheel 22 is engaged with a fixed planetary wheel 32, coaxial with the balance wheel 17, so that, during the rotation of the cage 19-20 of the tourbillon, the pinion 31 plays the role of a satellite, which ensures the rotational drive of the escape wheel.
  • the upper board 20 of the cage 19-20 carries a cap 33 around which is rotatably mounted, with greasy friction, a racket 34 allowing the adjustment of the frequency of the pendulum oscillations 17.
  • This cap carries a central pin 33 a on which is mounted second hand 35.
  • the dial 15 is pierced with a circular opening 36 (fig. 1), coaxial with the balance 17, whose radius is slightly greater than the distance between its center and the center of the watch.
  • the edge of this opening 36 has a seconds turn segment 37 opposite which the end of the seconds hand 35 moves. Thanks to this opening 36, the balance 17 and the tourbillon escapement mechanism are visible from the outside through the glass of the watch case.
  • the front face of this bar-shaped bridge 38 and its soles 38 a is located in the plane of the front face of the dial 15 which has two clearances 42 (fig. 1) providing passage to said soles which are thus visible.
  • the elastic coupling constituted by the spiral spring 25 interposed between the wheel 23, driving, and the wheel 24, driven, if there are differences in running, moreover inevitable, between the electro-mechanical part of the watch and its purely mechanical part, they are of no practical consequence.
  • the spring 25 will be tensioned, which will lead, ultimately, to the mechanical escapement; so that it will automatically catch up with the delay it has taken on the electro-mechanical part of the watch.
  • the coupling spring 25 will gradually relax so that the frequency of the escapement will decrease and the electro-mechanical part will thus automatically catch up.
  • the visible mechanical escapement is a vortex. It could however be a simpler classic exhaust, with anchor or any other type.
